Sexual violence is defined in this survey as a range of non-consensual experiences from non-contact experiences to non-consensual sexual intercourse. 
Non-contact experiences include being shown pornographic material as a child, posing for sexually suggestive images/videos, someone exposing themselves to a child, or someone masturbating in front of a child. The Nature of relationship with perpetrator category captures the relationship of the perpetrator (the person that did the particular sexual violence experience to the respondent) and the respondent. 
Personally identifiable information on the perpetrator was not sought in the survey. See [url=https://www.cso.ie/en/releasesandpublications/ep/p-svsmr/sexualviolencesurvey2022mainresults/backgroundnotes/]Background Notes[/url] for further details. 
Please note data may not add to 100% due to rounding issues. 
The age group category classifies the age the respondent was when they answered the survey. 
Children may have experienced multiple sexual violence experiences or with multiple perpetrators. 
If there were multiple experiences, the person was asked to share details on the experience that affected the person the most. 
Boyfriend or girlfriend category includes perpetrators who were previously a boyfriend or girlfriend. 
The not stated category represents the proportion of respondents who did not answer the question. 
In this survey, respondents could move through the survey and not answer questions which they did not feel comfortable answering the question. 
In addition, for this table, it also includes the percentage who experienced sexual violence with multiple perpetrators as these were not asked the relationship between the person and the perpetrators.
